Flying Fish in the Emerald City

Fish tossYeah cafes and Starbucks Headquarters are definite sights to see while in Seattle but another thing worth a five minute wait is at Pikes Market in downtown Seattle.

Rumor and several articles said there was a place in the market where visitors and especially buyers could watch fish be tossed around by athletic fish mongers.  Always a seeker of truth in gossip I had to find the spot myself.

On day one I walked the stalls of the market, checking out the curiousity shops and the souvenirs stores.  I saw a couple of fresh fish stands but not a single flying fish.  Frustrated I went home.

On day two, after having verified rumor in a couple of tour guides, I went back to the market.  I slowly walked by the fish stalls again and saw nary a flying fish.

It was actually a local hairdresser that let me in on the secret.  I found I was lacking a little patience.  I had indeed found the right fish stall I just hadn’t waited long enough to watch the fish fly.  It only happens when a customer orders one fresh.

For those of you interested in flying fish or previewing a visit to Seattle this video is for you.  For those of you with absolutely nothing else to do, this is also for you.  Thanks for watching Ptv.
