Punk Golfa

PGlfaHi regular readers. Are there any out there? I’ve been away for a couple of weeks but I’ve been thinking about you. I was in Dublin, Ireland two weeks ago attending an intensive dissertation residential (www.theideafeed.com) and then I was in the southwest of England doing my best at enjoying Cornwall under an umbrella.

While in Dublin I managed to squeeze in nine holes of golf at the Citywest country club. It was an enjoyable and memorable round of golf. I finally got around to filming myself play golf. I’ve long wanted to do this for several reasons.

First and foremost I wanted to see what my swing looked like on film. Now that I’ve seen it I wish I hadn’t. Its a cross between a monkey and caveman swinging spastically at a white ball. I will never be a professional.

Secondly I wanted to share my secrets, thoughts and approach to golfing with a wider audience. This film lays bare the naked truth of my golf style for the world to see.

I started playing golf as a kid with my father. He instilled in me the discipline to become the fine divet hack that I am. As a kid I remember quickly growing bored with some of the rituals of golfing and promising myself that I would do it my way when I got older.  I am now older and Punk Golfa is the outcome.

Punk Golfing is a philosophy.  It is about doing it your way. Its about respecting the rules of golfing but keeping it fun, enjoyable and spontaneous. I’ve devised a few simple rules to further my enjoyment.

Watch the 15 minute video to see if you agree.

PS - Out of respect for the unknowing Punk Bands that contributed the soundtrack to my short film please delete this video within 24 hours of viewing.
